Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho, while chairing an important meeting on polio eradication on Thursday, said that persuading parents to polio vaccination of their children has been a challenge. “We will try to ensure that no child is left without polio drops.” The meeting reviewed the campaign launched in District West and Central from the 20th of this month. In this month’s campaign, an attempt was made to achieve the target of vaccinating more than two and a half lakh children up to the age of five in 23 USCs. Due to the refusal of parents, 38,000 children were left without vaccinations, in which 20,000 children have been vaccinated after persuading their parents. Awareness There are still 18,700 children who have not been vaccinated and their parents will be persuaded. Due to rains, there were difficulties in meeting the target of polio campaign. The health minister said that national service of polio workers in spite of all difficulties is commendable and parents will be persuaded in any case, all resources will be used in this regard. The next polio campaign will be launched in August. All children will be vaccinated against polio. The meeting was attended by EOC Coordinator Fayyaz Abbasi, Technical Person Dr. Ahmed Ali Sheikh, DCs and DHOs of Karachi districts.
