Govt Employees to get Salary on 25th as Sindh working on New Payment System

Big Salary Increments Approved In Punjab Details Inside

KARACHI – For years, government employees in Sindh faced uncertainty over when their salaries would actually arrive, often waiting days beyond the official payment date.

Amid shift at ending those delays, the provincial government introduced new payment schedule that will see salaries credited on the 25th of every month and pensions on the 26th, offering thousands of families greater financial certainty and relief amid rising living costs.

The reform, introduced in coordination with the Accountant General (AG) Sindh, is being hailed as one of the most significant administrative changes in recent years. The new system aims to eliminate chronic payment delays that have long frustrated employees and retirees across the province.

Under revised schedule, government employees will now receive their salaries on the 25th of every month instead of waiting until the 1st. Pension payments will be credited on the 26th, while supplementary payroll payments will be released on the 29th. The government has also set a clear timeline for other financial claims. Payments related to the General Provident Fund (GP Fund) and miscellaneous claims will be processed between the 6th and 16th of each month, with all remaining dues expected to be cleared by the 20th.

To ensure smooth implementation, Accountant General Sindh has issued directives to all provincial departments, secretaries, and institutional heads, instructing them to submit payroll data well ahead of deadlines. Departments have been told to accelerate payroll preparation and provide employee records earlier than before, giving the AG Office sufficient time to complete processing before the scheduled payment dates.

The decision comes after years of complaints from employees and pensioners who often faced delays in receiving payments due to late payroll submissions and heavy banking activity at the start of each month. In many cases, salaries and pensions reached bank accounts days after their official release dates, creating financial difficulties for families dependent on timely income.

With inflation continuing to increase pressure on household budgets, the government believes the new payment calendar will provide much-needed financial certainty. Earlier payments are expected to help employees manage essential expenses, including groceries, utility bills, rent, and school fees, without the uncertainty caused by delayed disbursements.

Officials expect reform to ease pressure on the banking system. The first week of every month typically sees a surge in salary and pension transactions, often leading to long queues, cash management challenges, and slower banking services. By spreading major government payments across different dates, authorities hope to reduce congestion and improve customer experience.
