The government is organizing the Self-employed Workers (TKM) Expo 2023 with the aim of supporting domestic business players who run micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah has stated.

“This event is the manifestation of the government’s support for its TKM Program that is expected to expand job opportunities and resolve issues related to unemployment,” she said in her ministry’s statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

In her TKM Expo address at the TKM Expo in Mojokerto City, East Java, on Saturday (December 23) evening, Fauziyah underscored the ministry’s concrete efforts to foster the growth and development of self-employed workers.

She said that the Ministry of Manpower has devised a plan to provide assistance in the form of business capital to 11,000 self-employed workers in 2023. As per December, a total of 10,955 TKMs have received the assistance, she added.

“In Mojokerto District and Mojokerto City, the Ministry of Manpower has assisted approximately 173 TKMs this year,” she noted.

The minister pointed out that the TKM Expo constitutes a precious opportunity for self-employed workers to progress.

“This expo provides a valuable opportunity for TKMs assisted by the ministry to promote their businesses and broaden their networks,” she said.

On the occasion, she also launched an organization called Jangkar Wirausaha Nusantara (Indonesian Entrepreneurial Anchor) that will serve as a sociopreneurship platform for its members.

“Sociopreneurship is an entrepreneurial concept that places profits and positive social impacts as its orientations,” she explained.

Special staff of the minister, Titik Masudah, welcomed all the participants of the TKM Expo, saying that any contribution will result in huge impacts on the development of TKMs that are expected to help the government suppress the unemployment rate and create a better entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“We need to continue facilitating TKMs to boost their competency in the hopes of enabling them to become resilient and competitive actors that wield the capability of creating job opportunities,” she said.—Antara
