ISLAMABAD – Gold prices in Pakistan on Monday soared to all-time high, crossing the Rs480,000 per tola mark, amid upward trend in global market.
According to Sarafa Association, the price of per tola gold moved up by whooping Rs7,700 to climb to historic high of Rs480,962 while the price of 10-gram surged to Rs412,347 after witnessing an increase of Rs6,602.
The price of the precious commodity witnessed a jump of $77 in international market where gold price hovers at $4,586.
Gold prices surged to a historic high of over $4,600 per ounce during Monday’s intraday trading, driven by growing geopolitical uncertainties, including the turmoil in Iran and the ongoing political upheaval in Venezuela.
Silver also saw a record spike as investors flocked to safe-haven assets amid these rising tensions.
The unrest in Iran has claimed the lives of over 500 people, as reported by human rights organizations, while the Iranian government has issued threats to target U.S. military bases should President Donald Trump proceed with renewed strikes against the country.
This situation is further complicated by Trump’s international actions, including his recent removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his provocative discussions about potentially annexing Greenland.
These geopolitical developments, particularly the instability in both Iran and Venezuela, have increased fears of global instability, pushing investors to seek refuge in precious metals like gold, thereby driving prices to unprecedented levels.
