Gold’s August Trend
Gold began August in the Rs426,000-plus range. It has now reached Rs461,936, meaning the precious metal has added roughly Rs35,000–37,000 per tola, an increase of about 8% since the start of the month.
The rally has been particularly intense since August 10, with local prices repeatedly pushing higher before brief bouts of profit-taking.
Rs426.7k → Rs449k → Rs457k → Rs459.7k → Rs463.9k → Rs460.4k → Rs459.9k → Rs461.9k
Gold even touched around Rs463,936 per tola before retreating, but Monday’s fresh jump shows that the buying momentum has not disappeared.
International markets are also keeping the pressure on. Gold rose $20 to $4,395 per ounce on Monday, with a $20 premium included in the quoted rate. The international rally accelerated around August 10–12, when spot gold crossed $4,400 an ounce. Softer-than-expected US inflation data helped strengthen expectations that the Federal Reserve could adopt a less aggressive approach toward interest rates.
