ISLAMABAD – Results of 17 out of 24 constituencies in Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections shows closely contested political race with no single party in clear dominance.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the leading party with 7 seats, followed by independent candidates securing 5 seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) winning 4 seats, and the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) taking 1 seat.

In GB-1 (Gilgit-I), PPP candidate Amjad Advocate won with 10,594 votes, while in GB-2 (Gilgit-II), PML-N’s Hafeez-ur-Rehman secured victory with 13,433 votes.

From GB-4 (Nagar), PPP’s Muhammad Ali Akhtar was declared successful with 7,654 votes, whereas GB-6 (Hunza) was won by independent candidate Nek Nam Karim, who secured 6,390 votes.

In GB-7 (Skardu-I), PPP’s Taqeer Mehdi Shah won with 4,320 votes, while GB-8 (Skardu-II) went to MWM’s Kazim Meesam with 10,658 votes.

PPP further strengthened its position with victories in GB-10 (Skardu-IV), GB-11 (Kharmang), and GB-12 (Shigar), where Nasir Ali Khan, Iqbal Hussain, and Imran Nadeem secured 6,582, 5,944, and 12,944 votes, respectively.

In GB-15 (Diamer-I) and GB-16 (Diamer-II), independent candidates Muhammad Dilpazir and Syed Imam Malik won with 5,680 and 6,320 votes. Another independent candidate, Anwar Ali, secured GB-23 (Ghanche-II) with 12,117 votes, while Aman Ali Amir won GB-21 (Ghizer-III) with 9,938 votes.

PML-N registered wins in GB-18 (Diamer-IV), GB-20 (Ghizer-II), and GB-22 (Ghanche), where Kifayat-ur-Rehman, Abdul Jahan, and Ibrahim Sani secured 5,521, 6,917, and 10,136 votes, respectively.

PPP’s Syed Jalal Shah also won GB-19 (Ghizer-I) with 9,303 votes.

With results from several constituencies still pending, the electoral picture in Gilgit-Baltistan remains fluid, with independents expected to play a decisive role in government formation.
