Abdul Khaliq Qureshi Abbottabad
Galiyat Action Committee (GAC) including the elders, political leaders, local bodies’ members, lawyers, and the social activists of various villages urged the authorities to provide basic amenities for the rural populace.
According to details, the committee representing the people of the mountainous series of Galiyat met here to discuss problems and formulate a strategy for seeking government attention.
The elders highlighted the problems being faced by the people of their respective rural localities. They said that elected representatives from the area were not interested in addressing the problems of the rural population in communication, health, education, and other sectors.
The participants noted that the area was deprived of basic rights as no proper funds were allocated for mega projects in Galiyat, creating a sense of deprivation among people.
Former district Nazim Abbottabad Sardar Saeed Anwar, M.M Arshad Awan, Jahangir Advocate, Professor Qaiser Ilyas, Engr. Nasir Ilyas Dr. Khanvez and others spoke on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Qaiser said the forum is apolitical with the sole aim of collectively working for the development and progress of the area.
They want the government to give Galiyat the status of a tehsil of Abbottabad district as people of the area are deprived of health, education, and other basic amenities.
