FPCCI chief warns against land mafia

President FPCCI Atif Ikram Sheikh, has highlighted the detrimental impact of the land mafia on industrial development and investment in Sindh. He emphasized that the prevalence of this criminal network has tarnished Pakistan’s reputation as a favorable investment destination, urging urgent action to safeguard law and order. Inspector General of Sindh Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja, joined top police officials in a visit to the FPCCI Head Office on Tuesday, signaled a collaborative effort to address the issue.

FPCCI’s Saquib Fayyaz Magoon stressed the need to eradicate the land mafia to unlock the region’s industrial potential, citing skyrocketing prices of industrial plots and a surge in extortion cases as alarming indicators. VP FPCCI, Zaki Aijaz, expressed concerns over security risks along transportation routes, underscoring the need for enhanced measures to protect goods in transit.

Inspector General of Sindh Police, Riffat Mukhtar Rajaproposed the formation of committees under deputy commissioners to combat land grabbing, advocating for multi-stakeholder participation to effectively address the issue.
