ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Syrus Sajjad Qazi visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Islamabad to convey Pakistan’s profound condolences to the Russian people and government on the carnage caused by the inhumane terror attack in Moscow.
Signing the condolence book, the foreign secretary reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the terror attack and expressed solidarity with Russia in this hour of national grief.
The Russian Federal Security Service had earlier confirmed the death of 143 people while nearly 200 were injured in an attack on Saturday at Moscow concert hall.
The attackers wearing camouflage stormed a concert venue in the Russian capital, with sophisticated weapons. An inferno was seen during the attack as people ran in a frenzy.
The attack sent shockwaves across Russia and parts of world while 11 people, including four suspected gunmen, in connection with the rampage were held.
Daesh claimed responsibility, but Moscow suggested a Ukrainian group, which Kyiv denied. Federal Security Service claimed the arrest of suspects who were involved in Russia’s deadliest shooting in 20 years.
Amid shock and anger of the attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin termed Saturday’s shooting a ‘barbaric terrorist act’ and announced a day of mourning at the national level.
Speaking to the nation, Russian President said the victims were dozens of innocent, peaceful people. He also warned attackers.
