First public holiday of 2026 announced in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced the schedule of public holidays for 2026 with first holiday of the year set to be observed next month (February).

As per the official list, people in Pakistan will observe the first public holiday on February 5, 2026, on account of the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Every year, the Kashmir Day is observed on Feb 5 to express the whole-hearted support of Pakistani nation to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under the UN resolutions.

The day is marked to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people and to draw the attention of the international community to the Indian atrocities in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In connection with the day, solidarity walks are organized across the country and Azad Kashmir. In Islamabad, a rally is held on the Constitution Avenue.

Sirens are blown and one minute silence is observed at ten am to pay homage to the martyrs of Kashmir.
