Federal Govt Reshuffles Top Bureaucrats Makes Key Appointments

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced various appointments, transfers, and retirements within the bureaucracy.

As part of the reshuffle, Mohammad Tariq Chohan, a Grade 21 officer from the Police Service of Pakistan, has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Police Bureau. Previously, Chohan was serving in the Punjab government.

Additionally, in a significant reshuffle within the Interior Division, Adnan Arshad Olakh, Joint Secretary of the Interior, has been transferred and appointed as the General Manager (Administration) of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

In another key development, three officers have been appointed on a contract basis under the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) with the approval of the Prime Minister. Mohammad Aamir Malik has been appointed as the Member (International Coordination) for a three-year contract, while Waqas Abbas has been appointed Director Technical, and Mohammad Azeem Khan has been assigned as the Program Director for the Digital Economy Enhancement Project, both on a two-year contract.

Further appointments include Mohammad Aslam Ghori, a Grade 22 officer from the Secretariat Group, who has been assigned as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Establishment Division, effective September 3, 2025. Moreover, Shehzad Asif, the Deputy Secretary at the Privatization Division, has been transferred and appointed as the Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Defence in Rawalpindi.

Additionally, Dr. Abdul Shakoor Abro, a Grade 19 officer from the Secretariat Group, has been issued a post-retirement notification effective June 13, 2025.

The Establishment Division has issued official notifications for all these appointments and transfers.
