In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah has paid glowing tributes to the poet-philosopher Dr Muhammad Iqbal on his death anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Farooq Abdullah in a statement issued in Srinagar termed him a great poet and philosopher, who woke up the Muslims of the sub-continent and infused a new spirit and enthusiasm among them through his poetry.
He said that Allama Iqbal played a historic role in Kashmir’s struggles and offered moral and ideological support to Sheikh Mohammad Abdulla in his fight against tyranny and oppression.
He said the philosophy of Allama Iqbal is timeless and holds the solution to a plethora of social, political and economic issues of contemporary times. He added that the Kashmiri youth should draw inspiration from Iqbal’s message of “Khudi” and equality to realize their full potential.—KMS
