ISLAMABAD – As the countdown to New Year 2026 begins, customers of the National Savings Centre (Qaumi Bachat Centre) are eager to find out if there will be any changes to the profit rate for Behbood Savings Certificates starting in January.
The directorate previously revised the profit rates in November 2025 and they are still applicable in December 2025.
The Pakistani government introduced the Behbood Savings Certificates in 2003, aiming to address the financial challenges faced by widows and senior citizens by providing a steady monthly profit at a competitive rate.
These certificates have become a popular investment option for this demographic, as they guarantee regular monthly returns.
In 2004, the scheme was expanded to include disabled individuals and minors with disabilities, allowing their guardians to invest on their behalf.
The Behbood Savings Certificates are available in the denominations of Rs5, 000, Rs10,000, Rs50,000, Rs 100,000, Rs500,000 and Rs1,000,000.
Who Can Buy Behbood Savings Certificates?
The certificates can be purchased by any of the following Citizens of Pakistan, namely:
(a)A senior citizen aged sixty years or above
(b)A single widow as long as she does not re-marry
(c)Two eligible persons as in clause (a) and (b) in their joint names
(d) Disables holding NIC with Disability logo, and special minor through a Guardian.
Investment Limit
A single person can make a maximum investment of Rs7.5 million while the joint investors can make an investment of Rs15 million for the period of 10 years.
Behbood Savings Certificates Current Profit Rate
The government has fixed the profit rates on Behbood Savings Certificates at 12.72 percent. It means the people can earn monthly profit of Rs1,060 on investment of Rs100,000 each.
What is expected from January 2026
The National Savings Centre is expected to keep the profit rate for the Behbood Certificates unchanged at Rs1,060 on per Rs100,000 investment.
