The Sindh Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department have initiated a comprehensive road checking campaign aimed at retrieving unpaid taxes from vehicle owners. Scheduled to run until March 7, the campaign aims to ensure compliance with tax regulations among vehicle owners who have defaulted on their payments. Director General of Excise and Taxation Sindh, Aurangzeb Panhoor, underscored the primary objective of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collecting taxes from defaulting vehicle owners.
To facilitate this effort, eight specialized teams have been deployed across Karachi, targeting 37 key locations for thorough checks. The designated areas for scrutiny include industrial zones like Korangi Industrial Area and Landhi Industrial Area, as well as prominent intersections and thoroughfares such as Brook Chowrangi, Sunset Boulevard Road, and Queens Road. Additionally, locations like DHA Cemetery, Mazar-e-Quaid, and My Kolachi Bypass are also included in the inspection roster. Director General Panhoor urged owners of tax-defaulting vehicles to promptly settle their outstanding dues to avoid any potential penalties or legal repercussions.
He emphasized the importance of compliance with tax regulations and encouraged cooperation from vehicle owners to ensure a smooth and transparent process. With checkpoints set up at strategic points including JoharChowrangi, Metro Cash and Carry, and Pehlwan Goth, the campaign aims to cover a wide geographical area within Karachi, including residential and commercial districts. By targeting tax defaulters across various sectors, the Excise Department aims to bolster revenue collection efforts and promote fiscal discipline.
