ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed eight buildings in the federal capital over non-compliance with fire and life safety requirements.
The action comes days after a deadly fire incident at the PIMS hospital in Islamabad that claimed lives of 14 infants.
CDA said the properties were sealed for failing to address safety issues identified during inspections by its Fire and Emergency Services Directorate within the required period.

State Life Building
Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Building
Beverley Centre
NIC Building
Crown Plaza
Khudadad Heights Plaza
Envoy Continental Hotel
The CDA has also penalised three major healthcare facilities for breaching fire safety regulations. Capital Hospital, Polyclinic and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences have each been fined Rs500,000.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf has instructed the authority’s relevant departments to adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward serious safety violations and ensure that buildings meet compulsory fire prevention and life protection standards.
