Electricity price massively reduced for Islamabad citizen for August, September

LAHORE – The Punjab government has decided to provide subsidized electricity to the residents of Islamabad for two months – August and September 2024.

On the instruction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, letters have been sent to the electricity companies of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan, as well as to the Islamabad electricity company.

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that those consuming between 201 to 500 units will receive a discount of Rs14 per unit for the months of August and September.

This relief is being provided from Punjab’s budget, and other provinces also have the option to offer relief from their own budgets.

How Much Relief in Electricity Price Announced for Islamabad?

The residents of Islamabad are expected to get the same relief of Rs14 per unit, which has been announced for the Punjab for August and September 2024.

Punjab Cuts Electricity Price

Last week, the Punjab government announced a Rs14 per unit discount on electricity bills for August and September for consumers using up to 500 units.

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif made the announcement as government reallocates Rs45 billion from the developmental budget to provide relief to the people.

He made announcement alongside his daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in a presser. PML-N leader also confirmed that this relief, which is set to benefit 2.5 crores consumers and amount to Rs50 billion, is aimed at 94pc of the country’s domestic electricity users.
