Electric Bike Prices Surge By Rs5000 In Pakistan After Hike In Petrol Rates

KARACHI – A local electric bike manufacturing company has raised the prices of its e-bikes lineup due to higher operational expenses and recent increases in petroleum rates.

In an official statement, the company explained that rising maritime shipping fees, growing logistics costs from Karachi port to manufacturing plants, and additional expenses in delivering vehicles to dealerships have all contributed to the overall cost surge.

The statement also noted that the recent spike in petroleum product prices has placed a significant strain on the company’s budget, making it impossible to absorb the extra costs internally.

As a result, all models of Metro E-Vehicles will now carry an additional Rs5,000, effective immediately.

This price adjustment applies to all orders placed after April 3, with dealers instructed to collect the extra amount alongside the current listed price.

Earlier this week, the federal government announced sharp increase in petroleum prices, raising petrol to Rs458.41 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) to Rs520.35 per litre.

The latest hike marked a significant jump from the previous notified prices earlier in March, when petrol was priced at Rs321.17 per litre and HSD at Rs335.86 per litre, indicating an increase of over Rs137.24 per litre in petrol, and Rs184.49 per litre in HSD.

However, the prime minister reduced the petroleum levy by Rs80 per litre with new petrol rate setting at Rs378.
