DUBAI – All UAE nationals and residents are required to obtain a valid driving license in Dubai to drive any kind of vehicle as they can face heavy fines in case driving without it.
The traffic department can also impose fines if the driving license is expired. According to RTA guidelines, residents aged 21 years and above are eligible to apply for the driving licence in Dubai.
Residents younger than 21 years can also apply for a probationary driving licence.

Penalties on Delay Renewal of License
According to RTA, The delay fine (10 AED) is calculated monthly from the expiration date of the licence, with a maximum of 500 AED. It is only required to pay the periodic renewal fees and undergo the evaluation test if the licence was expired for more than 10 years.
If the license is expired for more than ten years, the applicant will have to pass the driving test again to get evaluated the skills. The service fee for the evaluation test if the license has not been renewed for more than 10 years is following:
