In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained party Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail and demanded his immediate release.

The DFP in a statement issued in Srinagar said that it was unfortunate that the jail authorities had been ignoring the fast-deteriorating health condition of Shabbir Shah who had been suffering from multiple ailments.

It said that basic treatment was not being provided to Shabbir Shah and the authorities were deliberately ignoring his worsening health condition in the prison. “If anything untoward happens to him, the Indian government will be responsible,” it added.

The DFP stated that Shabbir Shah was not even allowed to take his regular medicines. He has been diagnosed with acute ailments, including diabetes, hypertension and heart blocks, for which he requires regular medical aid and treatment, it said.

The DFP also expressed grave concern over the plight of other Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in the jails of India and IIOJK and called upon the human rights organisations to take notice of the Kashmiri detainees’ plight and play role in their early release.—KMS
