ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar hedl separate meetings with the British and US envoys, with bilateral cooperation, regional peace and stronger international partnerships high on the agenda.
In meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, Dar held discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan-US bilateral cooperation and developments across the region. Dar welcomed the positive trajectory in relations with Washington and underlined the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic efforts for lasting peace.
Reiterating Pakistan’s position on the June 18 Islamabad MoU, Dar said its implementation in “letter and spirit” remained the way forward, while reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace, stability and the protection of its national interests.
US chargé appreciated Pakistan’s constructive contribution toward promoting regional peace and stability and conveyed Independence Day greetings to Dar.
The twin diplomatic engagements reflect Pakistan’s continued efforts to build stronger partnerships with key international allies while advancing dialogue, cooperation and regional stability.
In his meeting with UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott, Dar highlighted the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations and discussed opportunities to further expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Dar stressed importance of maintaining sustained high-level contacts between Islamabad and London and recalled his recent meeting with British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, stressing that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding should be implemented by all parties in “letter and spirit” to help address outstanding issues.
Marriott conveyed warm wishes to Dar and the people of Pakistan on the country’s Independence Day.
