Federal Minister for Science & Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Sidiqqui on Monday also assumed the charge as the new Federal Minister for Education & Professional training. Upon reaching his office at the Federal Secretariat, senior officials of the Education Ministry welcomed the Minister and briefed him about the working and various projects undertaken by the ministry. He has also called a meeting of the Ministry’s senior officers on Tuesday (today) to have a briefing about education affairs.
In his brief interaction with the Ministry’s staff, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed his desire for quick relief and uplift of the federal education set up. These measures include repairing and re-construction of old school buildings, appointment of new teachers, provision of school buses, resolution of teachers’ pending issues, etc. He has also called for a uniform curriculum across the country. One of my ministry’s goals will be to enhance the school enrolment as currently more than 20 million children of school going age are reported to be out of school.
