SYDNEY – Former captain and legendary bowler of the Pakistan cricket team Wasim Akram has been appointed as a multicultural ambassador by Cricket Australia.
Among the 54 ambassadors of Cricket Australia, India’s Ravi Shastri, and former cricketers from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Russel Arnold and Aminul Islam were also included.
Australia’s Test opener Usman Khawaja, Fawad Ahmed, Scott Boland, former women’s captain Lisa Sthalekar and Mel Jones are also part of the ambassador program.
Cricket Australia appointed these ambassadors for a period of two years.
The ambassador program aims to provide a clear pathway for players, spectators, and coaches from the South Asian region in Australia.
