LAHORE – Success in modern medicine requires continuous learning, strong mental well-being, ethical maturity and a commitment to patient care, said Prof Farooq Afzal, Principal Ameeruddin Medical College (AMC).
Speaking at a seminar titled “Working Yourself Up in Medical Professions” at AMC, he stated that today’s rapidly evolving medical landscape demands that teachers enhance their professional capabilities to prepare competent and compassionate future doctors.
“Young healthcare professionals should focus on higher education, maintain discipline and treat patients with empathy and respect”, he said.
President Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology, Prof Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab, stated that the leading institutions worldwide prioritise the wellness of doctors to ensure high-quality patient care. He appreciated the initiatives taken by PGMI/ AMC, including faculty development programs, grand clinical rounds, lectures, and mentorship activities, calling them highly beneficial for both students and patients.
Speakers discussed critical themes such as increasing pressures in the medical field, mental fatigue, professional resilience, and the importance of self-care for healthcare providers. Participants termed the seminar a timely step that contributes to professional stability, confidence building and knowledge enhancement.
A commemorative shield was presented to Prof Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab. Prof Muhammad Shahid, Prof Akif Dilshad, Prof Shandana Tariq, Prof Amna Ahsan Cheema, Prof Khurram Saleem, Prof Nighat Haroon Khan, Prof Tayyaba Gul, Prof Hassan Suleman Malik, Dr Javed Magsi, Dr Saira Zeeshan, Dr Abdul Aziz, Saima Fatah and students of the Nursing College AMC/LGH were also present.
