Indian Opposition party Congress has said that the security scenario in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated since the abrogation of Article 370 by the Bharatiya Janata Party government.

The Congress said the recent spate of targeted attacks have exposed the BJP’s tall claim of normalcy in the occupied territory. “Why minorities and others, including Kashmiri Pandits, became more vulnerable and unsafe in Kashmir under the BJP regime, especially post August 5, 2019?” Congress’s chief spokesperson in IIIOJK Ravinder Sharma asked.

On August 5, 2019, the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government abrogated Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which accorded special status to IIOJK, and divided it into two New-Delhi controlled union territories.

Sharma said that Article 370 was projected to be the root cause of militancy in Kashmir. What happened post abrogation (of Article 370) and why the central government and the union territory administration failed to eliminate militancy and ensure peace, he asked.—KMS
