Reviewing the progress of various projects, including football grounds, schools and a street library, in Lyari, Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani discussed the arrangements for cleaning rainwater drains ahead of expected downpours in the city. He also discussed the maintenance of sewerage pumping stations in the neighbourhood. Besides, he visited a newly constructed football ground, different schools and a street library being constructed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation at Baloch Chowk. While visiting the football ground, he said, “Lyari has proved its mettle in football and is set to embark on another prosperous journey in the field of sports with a football ground meeting international standards being made available to its youngsters.” He expressed his wish to be invited to the ground’s opening ceremony. Visiting the street library, he expressed the hope that the initiative would produce positive results. Later, South district municipal corporation chairperson Malik Muhammad Fayyaz Awan and Union Council-12 chairperson Habib Hassan accompanied him to a boxing club, a model school and another football ground, being constructed in collaboration with the Coach Emad Foundation in Sarbazi Muhalla.The commissioner also visited Mirza Adam Khan Road. While appreciating the construction and plantation along its length, the commissioner directed relevant authorities to take measures for ending illegal parking near it.
