Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the launch of a pilot project to provide clean drinking water through pipeline networks in six districts as part of the largest drinking water initiative in the province’s history.
Chairing a meeting here on Monday, the chief minister approved the pilot project for Rajanpur, Lahore, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Rawalpindi and Murree/Kotli Sattian, representing South, Central and North Punjab. She said her government was committed to ensuring access to safe drinking water for every individual and every household across the province.
The meeting was informed that clean drinking water was already being supplied through filtration plants, bottled water plants and water bowsers, while plans were underway to further expand coverage in water-deficient and underserved areas.
CM directed the deputy commissioners of the selected districts, along with experts from the Water and Sanitation Agency and the Public Health Engineering Department, to hold detailed consultations and finalize an effective implementation plan.
