LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched the Chief Minister IT Internship Programme, a key initiative under her vision of a ‘Digital Punjab,’ aimed at equipping young graduates with modern technological skills and promoting the province as an emerging IT hub.
Under the programme, IT and Computer Science graduates will be offered five-month paid internships in leading software houses across Punjab. Each selected intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000, enabling them to gain professional exposure while supporting their career development.
According to the Punjab government, the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by connecting fresh graduates with reputed IT companies. Participants will receive training in market-driven skills and latest technologies, while also benefiting from mentorship by experienced professionals and industry experts.
Eligible applicants include residents of Punjab who have completed a four-year degree in IT or Computer Science. Interested candidates can submit applications online at cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the initiative reflects her government’s commitment to empowering youth and accelerating digital transformation in the province.
“We are paving new paths of progress by making Punjab the hub of information technology. The Nawaz Sharif IT City will prove to be a game-changer project for the province,” she stated.
The programme is part of a broader provincial strategy to strengthen the digital economy, create employment opportunities, and ensure sustainable growth through technological innovation.
