Calls early diagnosis key to saving lives
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed solidarity with patients suffering from brain tumors and prayed for their speedy recovery on World Brain Tumour Day.
In her message issued on the occasion, the Chief Minister paid tribute to all healthcare professionals and individuals striving to treat and support brain tumour patients. She described brain tumours as a silent yet devastating disease and stressed that raising public awareness about the condition is of utmost importance.
Brain tumours are not only a medical challenge for patients and healthcare providers but also an emotional and psychological trial for families, she said, adding that timely diagnosis and treatment remain the key to ensuring a safe and healthy life.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that public awareness is the strongest weapon against silent diseases. She noted that greater understanding of early diagnosis and treatment options can help control brain tumors and save lives. Early detection and immediate medical intervention are essential for preventing complications and reducing mortality associated with brain tumors, she added.
The chief minister said that Pakistan s first government-run Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital would also serve as a beacon of hope for brain tumor patients. She stated that free treatment would be provided to cancer patients at all stages of the disease at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer.
She further announced that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer and Research Centre would soon become fully functional. Under the Healthy Punjab vision, the government is ensuring the availability of the best treatment facilities for brain tumors and other neurological disorders in public hospitals across the province.
CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz also highlighted that efforts are underway to enhance the capacity of medical professionals to improve the care and management of brain tumor patients.
