LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered action against illegal encroachments in the province, particularly those targeting properties of vulnerable widows.
The Punjab CM emphasized that all government decisions across Punjab must be implemented promptly, ensuring that no citizen’s property remains insecure.
During a high-level meeting, officials informed the CM that 2,919 applications related to illegal encroachments had been received from across Punjab over the past three weeks. Out of these, District Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs) have resolved 499 cases. Approving the full implementation of Ordinance 2025, Maryam Nawaz also directed that government initiatives be publicized across Punjab through mosque announcements to ensure citizens are informed. She further ordered that Assistant Commissioner offices in every tehsil receive applications related to encroachment cases.
The CM expressed strong displeasure over delays in resolving encroachment cases in districts including Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad, and others, emphasizing that such delays will not be tolerated.
She stated that the timely resolution of illegal encroachment cases is crucial to provide immediate relief to citizens and reiterated her commitment to personally monitor the system.
