Cm Maryam Vows Strict Action Against Land Grabbers

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday assured full support for setting up a Google Chromebooks factory in the province to promote digital learning and modern technology in education.

A high-level delegation from Google for Education and Tech Valley called on CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif to discuss the establishment of the factory.

The delegation was led by Kevin J. Kalis, Global Director of Google for Education while Tech Valley CIO Umar Farooq was also present.

According to the briefing, the proposed Chromebooks will come pre-installed with three major educational software applications — an Artificial Intelligence Toolkit featuring “AI Gemini,” the English learning software “Read Along,” and the creative design platform “Canva.”

During the meeting, the delegation appreciated the visionary leadership of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif and termed her commitment to promoting IT education — particularly for girls — as highly impressive.

The chief minister commended Google for Education’s support in advancing IT and education across Punjab. The delegation informed her that Google for Education has already trained over 2,000 teachers from government schools and plans to extend IT training to more educators and students.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said her government is working to make information technology an integral part of primary education.

“Transforming Punjab into an Artificial Intelligence hub is our mission,” she affirmed, adding that the provincial government will extend full cooperation for establishing the Google Chromebooks factory in Punjab.
