RAWALPINDI – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Monday issued the seventh non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in the November 26 protest case.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah conducted the hearing on Monday, during which Aleema Khan and her legal team once again failed to appear before the court.
The case pertains to a protest registered at the Sadiqabad Police Station involving 11 accused including Aleema Khan.
Due to her repeated non-appearance, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the seventh time and directed authorities to ensure her arrest. The court also reviewed a report concerning the freezing of her bank accounts.
According to the report, Aleema Khan holds several accounts under her name in different banks, including those linked to welfare organisations such as Namal University. The court issued notices to banks that have not yet submitted compliance reports.
Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) informed the court that Aleema Khan’s national identity card and passport have been blocked in accordance with court directives.
During the proceedings, 10 other accused and prosecution witnesses appeared before the court, along with Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and his team.
In a related development, the court ordered that accused Arif Khan—who had failed to produce surety bonds after securing custody of a vehicle used during the protest—be sent to jail.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until November 6, directing law enforcement authorities to submit an implementation report on Aleema Khan’s arrest.
