The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 63 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Wednesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in Gulberg and Azam Gardens, 21 in Shadbagh and on Canal Bank Road, and 22 in the Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society.
These premises were sealed during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include The Educators, Steps School System, The Smart School, The Spirit School, The Peers Education System, House of Wisdom Islamic Preschool, Clinix, Green Pharmacy, Aid Plus Pharmacy, Rahat Medicare, Publix Pharmacy, HK Pharmacy, Ch Bashir Ahmed Memorial Hospital, Dollar Store, Servis outlet, Smart Cut Salon, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
LDA officials claimed that several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
