The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 90 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Tuesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 21 buildings in Johar Town and on Defence Road, College Road and Raiwind Road, 25 in Shadman, New Muslim Town and Gujjarpura, 21 in Gulberg and Gulshan-e-Ravi, and 23 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Multan Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Apex International School & Academy, Iqra School, Zikryra School System, New Vision School, Clinicare Pharmacy, Munaaz Salon, Anna Beauty Salon, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
Meanwhile, LDA demolished seven buildings during operations against violations of bylaws in Johar Town and on Raiwind Road, Defence Road and College Road.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the heavy machinery and the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes in Lahore.
