Lahore experienced the coldest day of this winter season as the mercury dropped to 06°C on Thursday.

Moderate to dense fog prevailed in Lahore and the surrounding plains, accompanied by icy conditions in Murree and Galiyat.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these weather conditions, cold and dry weather will likely persist in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Thursday evening and night, as well as on Friday and Saturday. Freezing weather is expected in Murree, Galiyat and the upper districts.

Partly cloudy weather is expected in the northern districts. Moderate to dense fog will continue to persist over Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Smog/fog persisted in Lahore and the plains of Punjab. Freezing weather prevailed in Murree and Galiyat.

Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab, where the temperature dropped to the freezing point (0°C). Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.

The minimum temperature in Chakwal was recorded at 02°C, and in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Attock at 03°C.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 06°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
