The country’s first Silk Road Clinical Trial Centre will be set up at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) in a Pak-China partnership.
Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar laid the foundation stone of the centre here at UHS on Saturday.
The Silk Road Clinical Trial Centre is being set up to promote research in medical sciences.
The centre will be completed in a period of two months for which funds will be jointly provided by UHS and China’s Anhui Zhiefie Longcom Biopharmaceutical Company, the sponsor of the Covid-19 vaccine ZF 2001 phase- III trial in Pakistan.
On the occasion, Punjab governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar also inaugurated the first International Conference on Coronavirus Vaccine at UHS.
The conference was organized by the UHS Public Health department under the theme “Covid-19: Vaccines and Beyond”.
In his address, the Punjab governor said that more investment was needed in research and technology as benefits to investing in the research were manifold.
