The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mazdoor Union has lauded the CDA administration for taking concrete steps to address long-standing issues of employees, terming the recent engagement between the two sides a positive and encouraging development for workers’ welfare.
An important meeting of the central office-bearers of the CDA Mazdoor Union and representatives of the Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) committees was held at the Central Union Office located in the Chairman Office Complex. The meeting was presided over by Union President Aurangzeb Khan and was attended by senior union leaders, CBA committee representatives and a large number of CDA employees from various departments. While addressing the gathering, General Secretary of the CDA Mazdoor Union, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CDA administration for convening a Joint Works Council meeting to listen to workers’ concerns. He appreciated the administration’s constructive approach, noting that positive negotiations were held on all key demands and that immediate instructions were issued for their resolution.
Highlighting a major breakthrough, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen said that, on the union’s demand, the decision to resolve the line of promotion through the CDA Board was a commendable step. He observed that this move would help clear long-pending promotion cases of employees, remove uncertainty, and ensure a more secure and brighter future for the workforce. He added that timely promotions were essential for boosting morale and improving institutional efficiency.
The union leader also referred to the issue of allotment of plots to CDA employees, stating that the matter was currently under consideration in the courts. He urged the CDA administration to take a personal interest in the case and, while fully respecting court decisions, to complete the balloting process at the earliest possible time to provide relief to deserving employees.
Drawing attention to the hardships faced by field staff, including sanitation workers, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen demanded that employees performing duties beyond prescribed working hours should be granted overtime and other related benefits. He stressed that such measures were necessary to ensure the economic stability and dignity of workers who play a vital role in keeping the city functional.
