QUETTA – Four containers carrying goods worth around Rs20 crore were set on fire at Mastung Bypass after being inspected, reducing the entire shipment to ashes.
These containers were reportedly part of logistics convoy when they were checked and later torched at the site. The incident caused the complete destruction of all four containers and their contents. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the motive behind the attack, but such incidents in the region have previously been linked to ongoing security challenges and militant activity targeting transport routes and infrastructure in sparsely-populated yet mineral rich region.

The destruction of commercial cargo raised serious concerns over the security of key transit routes, especially those linked to trade and strategic infrastructure projects such as the Gwadar Port corridor.
Local sources suggest the attack appears to be aimed at disrupting economic activity and creating instability in the region. However, investigations are expected to determine the exact circumstances and responsible group.
Security forces and relevant agencies are reviewing the incident and tighten monitoring on highways passing through Mastung and surrounding districts.
The latest incident comes in series of Sunday Blast hitting Jaffer Express train carrying government personnel near Quetta, killing 2 dozen people and injuring over 50 others. The blast, reportedly caused by an explosives-laden vehicle, also derailed part of the train and damaged nearby vehicles.
