ISLAMABAD – The federal government has reshuffled the top leadership of Islamabad Police, transferring Inspector General Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi and assigning him a new key role at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division on September 12, 2026, Capt (Rtd) Muhammad Sohail Ch, a BS-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan currently serving under the Government of Punjab, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.
The appointment has been made under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders.
The official notification, issued by the Government of Pakistan’s Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division, further states that the order will be published in the next issue of the Gazette of Pakistan, Part-I.
Ali Nasir Rizvi has been appointed Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), according to the notification issued separately for his new posting.
The development marks a major change at the top of Islamabad’s police command, with Rizvi moving from the capital’s police leadership to the country’s specialised cybercrime investigation setup, while Capt (Rtd) Sohail Ch takes charge as the new Islamabad Police chief.
