Deputy General Secretary of PPP Sindh and former minister of Local Government, Housing & Town Planning and Public Health Engineering Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the correctional houses that have been built in the jails of Sindh and the facilities that are being provided to the prisoners are not in the prisons of other provinces of the country.
He address today as chief guest on the occasion of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day celebrations at Karachi Central Jail. Former Minister of Prisons Ijaz Jakhrani, IG Prisons and Superintendent Prisons were also present. Nasir Hussain Shah said that everyone has to work together for the good and development of Pakistan. He added that the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, Ms. Faryal Talpur and the leadership of the PPP is the vision of development, the vision of well-being, the vision of peace, and we all have to carry it forward together.
He said that In 2018, when I got this department, then President Asif Ali Zardari gave me special directives to Blocker that you have to improve the jail arrangements a lot. He said that we made laws and provided facilities.
He added that more legislations are being made for the welfare of the prisoners, laws are being made which will improve the rights of the prisoners and even in prison, they can do all the things like getting an education, including computer skills, which will give them a chance to earn a good income and live a good life.
Nasir Shah also directed the IG Jails to take immediate steps to release the prisoner after fulfilling the legal requirements by paying the fine of a prisoner who was not released due to non-payment of the fine.
The prisoners presented their handmade products to Nasir Shah and Ejaz Jakhrani. On this occasion, Nasir Shah and Ejaz Jakhrani were gifted traditional ajrak, cap and Balochi turban.
