The Pakistani nation trapped in loan-slavery is celebrating its “independence”, said Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor here Monday, saying we are a strange independent nation that is being governed by the international lending institutions.
He said we are an independent nation, but we can’t even make our own budget; our monetary policy is dictated by the IMF, besides all other micro and macro economic matters. He said successive governments have only burdened the nation with more and more foreign debts thus further tightening the noose of the loan-slavery around our necks.On the auspicious occasion of August 14, PDP Chairman demanded to free the nation and country from the loan-slavery so as to savor the flavor of independence and sovereignty.
He said the whole Pakistani nation and all of its political parties and institutions should work hard to give the country an economic independence by breaking free of the debt trap. He asked to optimally use our land, river water, mineral resources and ample manpower to help stand the country on its own feet.
