LAHORE – The Lahore district administration has announced the start of registration for the manufacture of kite-flying equipment ahead of Basant 2027.
In a post on X, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz said registration through the Basant Portal 2027 would begin on September 5.
The district administration has made a permit mandatory for manufacturing kite-flying equipment in Lahore. Only individuals who obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be allowed to manufacture the equipment.
According to the deputy commissioner, district administration teams will closely monitor the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with approved requirements.
During Basant, only kites of approved sizes will be permitted, while cotton string and panna will be allowed for kite flying.
Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz said the administration would seek to revive the traditional culture of kite flying while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
He stressed that the use of approved kite sizes and cotton string would be essential for ensuring a safe Basant.
Last month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had announced that Lahore would host Basant Lahore 2027 from March 12 to 14.
In an online post, she said the dates had been finalised following a successful Basant 2026 and invited people from across Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis and international visitors to attend the event.
