BANNU – A terrorist was killed today in Bannu when explosive device he was attempting to plant near Do Ghoda Pull, Surani, detonated prematurely.
The attacker, identified as Zaid Hussain is a notorious bomb-maker linked to multiple targeted attacks on police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel, blew himself up, preventing what could have been a deadly assault.
Bannu Failed Suicide Blast
Eyewitnesses reported loud blast that jolted the area. When residents rushed to site, they found only bike and the bomber’s body. Officials suggest that the blast may have been triggered accidentally due to an unstable detonator, faulty wiring, or low-quality explosives, with the attacker likely wearing an explosive-laden jacket at the time.
Authorities confirmed that another militant was present during the explosion. He sustained injuries but escaped from the scene. Security forces have launched an urgent operation to track down the wounded accomplice, designating him as a high-priority target.
The explosion caused no civilian casualties or property damage, an outcome some officials are calling a stroke of luck.
