ISLAMABAD – Banks across Pakistan are set to remain closed for three consecutive days this week with holidays starting from August 14.
The country will observe a public holiday on August 14 on account of Independence Day, August 14, followed by the regular weekly holidays on Saturday and Sunday.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has yet to issue an official notification regarding the bank holiday.
The extended closure means banking services at physical branches will remain unavailable from Friday through Sunday, with normal operations expected to resume from Monday (August 17).
Customers planning branch visits or banking-related transactions may therefore need to complete them before Friday.
The nation celebrates the Independence Day every year with a renewed pledge to work with spirit of Pakistan Movement to make country a true Islamic welfare state.
The day used to dawn with thirty-one-gun salute at the Federal Capital and twenty-one gun salute at provincial headquarters.
Special prayers are offered in mosques for peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country.
The main flag hosting ceremony is held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad.
