LAHORE – Schools across Punjab are set to reopen on August 24 following the summer vacation 2026, with provincial education minister directing authorities to ensure cleaning, security and other necessary arrangements to welcome the students.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat instructed officials to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water.
The minister ordered the cleaning and disinfection of water tanks and rooftops. In view of the monsoon season, schools have also been directed to inspect their drainage systems and strictly implement dengue prevention protocols.
Schools must eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites and install barriers around areas where construction or repair work is underway to protect students.
Officials have also been instructed to inspect fans, lights, switches, electrical sockets and wiring before schools reopen.
The education minister directed all public and private schools to ensure compliance with security protocols. CCTV cameras and other security equipment must be made operational before the reopening of schools.
School heads have been instructed to conduct a final inspection before reopening. The minister warned that action would be taken over negligence, delays or failure to comply with the instructions.
