BAJAUR – A young man from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district has attracted attention locally after building a helicopter through six years of persistent effort and with limited resources.
The young inventor, identified as Subhanullah, developed the helicopter independently despite facing financial and logistical challenges. Authorities have reportedly promised to allow him to conduct a test demonstration at the Bajaur Sports Complex on September 6, with permission for an actual flight to be considered if the trial is successful.
Subhanullah said he had been fascinated by machinery and aircraft since childhood. He initially learned motorcycle mechanics at a young age, which helped him develop practical skills and deepened his interest in machines and mechanical equipment.
He said he travelled to several cities, including Lahore, Timergara and Peshawar, to obtain the components and other materials required to build the helicopter.
According to Subhanullah, completing the project has given him the confidence and experience to undertake more advanced projects in the future. He claimed that, after gaining experience from building the first helicopter, he could now construct a similar aircraft within a week.
He appealed for government support, saying assistance could enable him to work on larger and more sophisticated engineering projects.
Throughout the six-year project, Subhanullah said his family stood by him and encouraged him despite the financial difficulties involved.
The young inventor comes from a working-class family in Bajaur. His family earns a livelihood by travelling to Punjab during the season to sell traditional footwear.
His homemade helicopter has now become a subject of interest among residents, with many waiting to see whether it will successfully complete its proposed test demonstration on September 6.
