Azerbaijan president Aliyev to arrive in Pakistan this week

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is set to visit Pakistan on two-day official visit from July 11 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During his much-anticipated visit, President Aliyev will interact with top government officials including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

President Aliyev’s visit to Asian nation includes signing of several agreements between Islamabad and Baku. He is coming to Pakistan after visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov who discussed energy and commerce.

Pakistani government shows commitment to enhance economic ties, particularly in sectors such as tourism, transport, energy security, and defense as both sides expressed readiness for closer collaboration across mutual interests, highlighting the facilitation of travel and direct flights.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral strategic relations through increased investment, parliamentary exchanges, cultural cooperation, and people-to-people contacts.
