SYDNEY – Australia women’s cricket team captain Alyssa Healy announced her retirement from international cricket, the Cricket Australia confirmed on Tuesday.
Cricket Australia, the wicketkeeper-batter will retire from all formats after the upcoming home series against India.
The 35-year-old will, however, feature in the One-Day International and Test matches of the series, but will not be part of the T20 side.
Healy made her international debut in 2010 and went on to represent Australia in 295 international matches, scoring more than 7,000 runs and effecting 275 dismissals behind the stumps.
She took over as Australia’s full-time captain in 2023 and was part of eight ICC World Cup–winning squads during her illustrious career.
In a statement, Healy said she was announcing her retirement with mixed emotions.
“I still have the desire to play for Australia, but I feel the competitive edge may not be the same anymore, which is why this feels like the right time,” she said.
Healy also confirmed that while she will not play T20 cricket, the upcoming home series against India will mark her final appearances in ODIs and Tests.
