Ashura 2024 on July 17 as Muharram moon not sighted in Pakistan

Muharram crescent moon has not been sighted in Pakistan today on July 6 and Ashoor, 9th and 10th of Muharram, will be observed, July 16, and 17, across Pakistan.

The first day of new Hijri year 1446 will start on Monday, July 8 Monday, Ruet chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad announced after a meeting in Quetta.

Members of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Department of Meteorology, SUPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Simultaneously, provincial and district moon sighting committees conducted their meetings at their respective headquarters.

First Islamic month is the time of mourning for Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), and his family and companions who were martyred during the battle of Karbala.
