National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar Thursday called on Punjab Assembly Speaker and Acting Governor Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Thursday and discussed issues of mutual interest at Governor House here.
Both the leaders also discussed the local government (LG) elections at length and Elahi also shed light on the Punjab Local Body Amendment Bill.
Acting Governor Elahi also said that the strong LG institutions could play an anchoring role to resort the public issues.
Elahi said that will try to give maximum powers to the representatives, elected in the Local Body Amendment Bill. He added that it is important to empower the representative so that they could resolve public issues at the lower level.
