LAHORE – Pakistan’s Olympic gold medallist and star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has decided to undergo training abroad as he prepares for upcoming international competitions.
The sources said that Nadeem will not compete in the Lausanne Diamond League scheduled for August 21, despite his name being included in the event’s entry list.
The javelin thrower is instead set to travel to South Africa for a training camp. Nadeem has previously trained in South Africa on two occasions.
Sources said the Olympic champion will leave for South Africa on the first available flight once he receives his visa. He is expected to use the training camp to prepare for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, where he will represent Pakistan.
The championship is scheduled to take place in Budapest from September 6 to 14.
Following the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, Nadeem is expected to compete at the Asian Games, according to sources.
Nadeem has remained one of Pakistan’s leading athletics stars since winning the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
His decision to focus on overseas training reflects preparations for a demanding international schedule in the coming months.
